Now if I said it real pretty in a pretty rhyme
Does your mind get cloudy that's a dirty crime
Does it do things any good to tell you
That I'm standing here because- I love you
You say the voice is soothing got those hypnotic eyes
But man I wouldn't want to hand you any alibis
You can blame it all on what you can
But do you see just where I am- I love you
I had a flash, I saw you crying in the night
I said a prayer, I saw you walking in the light
And you were saying how it all once was
And how your life has changed because- He loves you
And then you turned and told someone
Who wouldn't believe you when you said- I love you
Now if I find it rough going in expressing myself
And between the lines it's coming from somebody else
Don't you leave it altogether
Put this upon the shelf- I said I love you
Now when I say it real pretty in a pretty rhyme
Does your mind get cloudy that's a dirty crime
Well, Does it do things any good to tell you
That I'm standing here because- I love you
Well, does it do things any good to tell you
That I'm standing here because- I love you
Does it do things any good to tell you
That I'm standing here because- I love you- yes I do
I said I love you- love you- yes I do

He got lost among the stars
Hollywood flash, cash, mansions and cars
Deep sea diver Lear jet flyer
Will this thing go to the moon?
Give me elbow room, and for heaven's sake
Take this aching away
You can't run, you can't hide, from the hound of heaven
You're free to choose, can you refuse the seeker of souls
Hobo sleeping alone in a dirty box car
He dreams of sailing to a tropical island
One sweet day- the thrill awakes him
There's no sunshine
This old train ain't really going there
Now does anybody care, and for heaven's sake
Take this aching away
You can't run, you can't hide, from the hound of heaven
You're free to choose, can you refuse the seeker of souls
We got lost among the stars
Hollywood flash, cash, mansions and cars
Deep sea diver lear flyer
Will this thing go to the moon?
Give me elbow room, and for heaven's sake
Take this aching away
You can't run, you can't hide, from the hound of heaven
You're free to choose, can you refuse the seeker of souls
You can't run, you can't hide, from the hound of heaven
You're free to choose, can you refuse the seeker of souls

near sighted girl with approaching
Tidal Wave
Up in her room she gets out of the sack
Goes down to the beach and lies on her back
In the sunshine all day, what's the hurry?
She dreams of long youth, no wrinkles or fat
No thoughts of bedpans or deathbeds
And that keeps her smiling all day, what's the hurry?
An older woman suddenly cried, "The tide is rising!"
And all the guys with speedos made it first to their cars
But along with the rest she slept while the crest rose
Twenty feet and higher, higher...
The girl kept on dreaming of a honeymoon in France
A handsome fiance and the way he could dance
Nuestra luna de miel, oye vaco mansando
Devina mujer estamos besando bailando el swim
He made good money alright a bright future
Even the guys with muscles cried, "The tide is rising!"
And all the folks with porsches made it up to the cliffs
A group of kids were praying that I'm sure went up to heaven
But no one tried to surf...
It's a tidal wave, it's a watery grave
She really tried to swim, she couldn't in the end.

Clouds are gathering round my head
It's a rainy day without an end
I'd change the world but it won't bend
Did I hear your voice in the wind?
Did I hear you calling?
Is it a lighthouse shining in the night?
No I believe it's a star twinkling up on high
It's clearing now my eyes are dry
And I can see you sailing out across the sky
Out across the sky
This is not a dream, you've taken flight, far above the world
You walk on clouds, you ride the light, far above my head
Out across the sky, out across the sky
I'm out across the sky, the ground is gone
And I'm dancing on the wind, I'm dancing on the wind
Ain't no packing bags when your voyage is to the son
Ain't no last good-byes when heaven calls you on
It's hard to believe this dreary night is gone
But I can feel it's meant for everyone
This is not a dream, you've taken flight, far above the world
You walk on clouds, you ride the light, far above my head
Out across the sky, out across the sky
I'm out across the sky
Out across the sky, far above the world
Out across the sky, far above my head
Out across the sky, tell the world good-bye
Out across the sky, out across the sky
Out across the sky

Believe me darling, I'm just a man
But if I could be your everything
You know I would
And if you were only crying tears
My kiss could drive away
I'd gently wipe them from your eyes
Tell you everything's OK
But after all these years there lingers still
An emptiness I cannot fill
After all these years
After all these years
I realize my love, you're just a woman
For you're not the treasure
Nor a precious jewel
There swims deep longing in my soul
This ocean has no floor
It's not your voice that drowns,
It's the knocking at my door
After all these years there lingers still
The emptiness you cannot fill
Please realize my love, I'm just a man
Yet if I could be your everything
You know I would
This picture-puzzle love
We share is yet to be complete
We drink of love yet thirst again;
The taste is bittersweet
And after all these years there lingers still
An emptiness only He and He alone can fill
After all these years
After all these years

You know He calls you long distance
No doubt He's dropped you a line
Right now He's saying it on your Hi-Fi
Quit talking and listen a while
When you draw back the curtain
He'll paint a picture for you
And if a billion stars don't convince you baby
He sent some letters signed His name with love too
On the line to you, on the line to you
Dropping a line to you, especially for you
He's got some bulletins on the radio
You turn the beatles up instead
Why do you settle for strawberry fields
His talk of heaven could fill more than your head
And when you draw back the curtain
He'll paint a pretty picture for you
And if a billion stars don't convince you baby
He sent some letters signed His name with love too
You know He calls you long distance
No doubt He's dropped you a line
Right now He's saying it on your Hi-fi
Quit talking and listen a while
When you draw back the curtain
He'll paint a picture for you
And if a billion stars don't convince you baby
He sent some letters signed His name with love too
On the line to you, do you hear Him calling you
On the line to you, do you feel Him drawing you
Dropping a line to you, especially for you
On the line to you, He's on the line to you

Falling from some cloud in the sky
Others hit the ground I see them die
It scares me now I've stumbled
Tumbled on the ground below
Where did you go, help me to see
A haunting voice tells me your gone
But in my heart I carry a lover's song
Now all the lies are fading
Hope has got me staying true
'Cause I believe in you, when the night comes
'Cause the light comes too, I believe in you
I believe in you, that you're coming back
To make my dreams come true
Sometimes just got Your letters to read
These promises You've asked me always to believe
Then despite the feeling, I'm saying I believe in you
I can't see it with my eyes, feel it with my hands
But it's real just the same, and in the darkest hour
That's when I speak the light of Your name
Sometimes just got Your letters to read
These promises You've asked me always to believe
Then despite the feeling, I'm saying I believe in you
I believe in you
I believe in you, when the night comes
'Cause the light comes too, I believe in you
I believe in you, and that you're coming back
To make my dreams come true
That you're coming back to make my dreams come true

I saw Mr. Moon last night, you know he's on the rise
There's something in his eyes I've never seen before
There's some kind of magic here, he's so full of surprises
He'll hypnotize like the lull of a lullaby
Carry me home in my dreams, nothing's the way it seems
Give up my world, now it's all too absurd
What has happened to me
Man in the moon, I was shooting for a star much higher
Man in the moon, there's no life nowhere near
I'm dying to get out of here
Lord don't leave me high and dry, let me fly
Oh the moon is a yellow man, eclipsed inside his cage
Concealed from public rage, faith our father
Well I can't smile anymore, oh end this masquerade
Let the nightmare fade, kill the gilded calf
I see someone in my dreams
Who was born to die and rise to redeem
So pay no attention to that man behind the curtain
Will this upstart ever stop
Man in the moon, man in the moon
Man in the moon, I'm the man in the moon
Man in the moon, I'm the man in the moon
Lord, don't leave me here

Only you, can turn my world around
Yes it's true, my head's been upside down
I hope you can take me the way I am
I'm a fool I know, and I'm tired of messing up so
I say to you, "My heart is open take it"
The sky is blue, with your help I'll make it
Through the night, I won't get uptight
I don't know the tune, but I'm sure I'll get it right
I'll get it right
It's all so new, Yes I know I was long overdue
So much time that's done gone, down the drain
I can feel the pain, I ran into your arms
And I'm never leaving you, I'll never leave you
Never leave you, never leave you, never leave you

Scene I:
He turns the T.V. high, the walls are paper thin
He hopes the neighbor folks aren't listening
He's killed his wife with words, confident it's private rage
When up goes the curtain and he's on the stage
He's on the stage, God sees it all
He's on the stage, He has total recall
It is an art, hiding murder in your heart
Scene II:
The show is over, he pours himself a drink
Best to forget about it
Put a record on the stereo and try not to think
And the record plays
"...This is your life, you beat your wife..."
We'll spare the gory details and simply say
Recording artist God hears it all
Recording artist He has total recall
Your sneaky moves are right here in the grooves
Scene III:
He puts his car in gear, got to get out of here
Going somewhere far a way, but through the headlight beam
He sees a billboard scene, his fight last night is on display
You're on display, He sees it all
You're on display, He has total recall
You're on display, He sees it all
You're on display, He has total recall
Your bloody crime is up there on the sign
